The Salem City Council Monday night will be asked to move forward on the replacement of natural gas meters and electronic reading units to allow them to send a signal to a meter reader tablet. The cost of 760 of the electronic reading units from United Systems and Software of Benton, Kentucky at a cost of $49,400.
Koons Gas Measurement is the vendor for the 240 gas meters in the amount of $26,692. The meters were scheduled to be replaced last Spring as part of an on-going program to convert all the meters to electronic reading but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The cost is budgeted.
The council will be asked to approve a Downstate Small Business Development Program grant application from Steve Ludwig for Salem Bowl due to loss of business from COVID-19. There was no opposition at a public hearing on Thursday.
The council will consider bids for patching mix for the upcoming summer road improvement program.
A proclamation in support of the Salem Police Department is also on the agenda. The meeting will be held in person at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
