Students at Selmaville Grade School combined their musical and writing talents to thank district Veterans during a Veterans Day program on Friday.
Students shared the microphone to deliver a message of thanks.
“To our veterans: Those of us who have not served will never fully understand the sacrifices you have made, both in times of peace and war,” their message said. “We recognize your humanity. We send you love, and we ask that you remember you are loved. Thank you.”
This is the second year that the program has been put together by the Junior Beta Club. Sponsor Amanda Cartwright.
“The Beta Club decided that they wanted to do something to honor Veteran’s Day. At the school I used to work at we had a Veteran’s Day program for years. So I tossed the idea, and the Beta Club students ran with it.”
Cartwright thanked the district’s music teacher and other staff members who worked to put together the program that started with breakfast for the attending Veterans. Many stayed around to talk in the classes after the program.
