Incumbent Marion County State’s Attorney Tin Hudspeth has won a second term. Hudspeth outdistanced Democratic challenger Jon Meador 72 percent of the vote to 25 percent. The unofficial vote total minus any late mail-in ballots was Hudspeth 12,230 votes, Meador 4,227.
“I’m just very grateful. I think it shows that when you keep your head down and do what you know in your heart is right and work hard people will notice and they will vote for you.”
Hudspeth has set some objectives for his second term.
“The Safety Act has been a big change for the past 13 to 14 months. One of the things we are seeing now is a lot more recidivism in terms of multiple cases pending against the same individual. I hope to figure out how we address that going forward. I don’t have the answer to it, but I think that it will be one of my priorities going forward. Also focusing on violent crime, people that get hurt or lose out if they get stolen from because of other persons actions.”
Two other incumbent Marion County officeholders were re-elected without opposition. They are Tiffany Schicker as Marion County Circuit Clerk (14,294 votes) and Mark Miller as Supervisor of Assessments (14,209 votes).
