KJ Engel and Ella Douglas named as Elks September Students of the month.

KJ Engel

KJ has been selected as one of the September Teen of the Month recipients for the Salem Elks #1678. KJ’s parents are Traci and Kelly Engel. KJ is a senior at Salem Community High School. KJ is currently involved in Peer Helpers, band, Drama Club, Thoughtwell, and Yearbook. In the past, KJ was also a participant in Track and Field and the Foreign Language Club. KJ is a member of the National Honor Society. KJ received accolades for scholarship by having a work sample published by the New York Times Rising Stars collection. KJ hopes to continue to hone skills in English and literature by pursuing a degree that will promote a career in writing. Congratulations KJ!


Ella Douglas

Ella Douglas is the daughter of Dr’s Britt and Mike Douglas. Ella has been selected as one of the recipients of the Salem Elks #1678 Teen of the Month award for September. Ella is a senior. Over the course of her tenure at Salem Community High School, she has participated in Math Team, Soccer, Foreign Language Club, Swim Team, Cheerleading, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Peer Helpers. She has been a student of the month nominee, a recurring member of high honor roll, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Ella has served as a Class Officer. She was named 1st Runner Up and Miss Congeniality in the 2024 Miss Marion County Fair Pageant. She is an active member of FFA and has received several leadership and proficiency awards within the organization. She is currently the Salem FFA president. Ella hopes to continue to advance her opportunities in the realm of agriculture as her plan is to obtain a degree in Ag Business. Congratulations Ella!
