2024 11/01 – Rosemary Cates

Rosemary Cates, age 75 of Cobden went home to her Lord and Savior Friday, October 25, 2025. She was born November 16, 1948, in Cobden, the daughter of Leslie and Mary Ann (Dangbar) George. She married Robert C. “Bob” Cates on July 5, 1977. He preceded her on September 29, 1988.

Rosemary is survived by her sisters, Charlene Holderfield and Pauline (James) Dillow all of Cobden; nieces and nephews, Karen (Rob) Robinson of Jonesboro, Ernie Holderfield and Mark Jones both of Cobden, Gregory (Jill) Wright of Salem, Sarah (Jeremy) Parker of Murfreesboro, TN, Kristine (Robert) Benak of Trenton, Cynthia (Joshua) Easton of Cobden, Connie Coryell of Granit City, Shannon Suarez of Saint Robert, Mo and Larry George of Cobden; numerous great-nieces and nephews; brother in law, L.G. Wright of Salem; cousins; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Cates, and siblings, Eldon Ray George, Henry George, Edith Farris, Shirley Jones, Sally Wright, and Mitchell George, and several nieces and nephews.

Rosemary graduated from Cobden High School in 1966 then went on to get her LPN license. She worked early on at Choate Mental Health, Union County Hospital and Fellowship House where she retired. She was a faithful member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Cobden for many years. Rosemary will be remembered for her love and compassion for others, she was incredibly generous and giving to anyone in need. She enjoyed doing needlecraft, especially making snowflakes during the winter season.

Funeral services will be at noon on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Rev. Joe Jones officiating. The interment will be in the Casper Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. and until the service at noon on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Memorial contributions are preferred to the Apostolic Lighthouse Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
