Marion County Junior Miss Aubrey Parker presented a donation to the Salem Police Department’s Shop with a Cop program.

Parker says she undertook the fundraising project because she knows how important Shop with a Cop is to many of her fellow students at Franklin Park Middle School in Salem.

“We posted a monthly calendar on Facebook, where you could bid however much money you wanted,” Parker said. “It was from one to thirty-one dollars, with four ‘any’ amounts. The amazing people out there donated as much as they could, and we got $640 at the end.”

Members of the Salem Police Fraternal Order of Police gathered outside the police station Wednesday night to accept the check.  The FOP Treasurer is Craig Vieira.

“We are super proud of Aubrey and her donation to us. We couldn’t do it without her and local businesses and their help,” Vieira said. “We’ve gotten a lot of checks in the last couple of weeks, and we expect more. If anyone wants to give to Shop with a Cop, you can bring it to the Salem Police department or mail it to us. We’ll take your donation and turn it into a wonderful Christmas for kids.”

Vieira says their goal again this year is to raise enough money to take 60 to 75 kids shopping.
