Laura Minta Rainey, 94, of Salem, went to be with her Savior on September 30, 2024. She was born September 24th, 1930, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Harry and Grace (McPherson) Rich. She married her lifelong love, Charles Rainey, on February 2nd, 1952, spending 72 years together.
After her retirement, she was active in the Grace United Methodist Church women’s group and volunteered helping work in disaster relief through the GUMC with her husband. She was a lover of music, playing piano, helping others, and she really enjoyed spending time with her family.
Minta is survived by her husband: Charles Rainey; son: Todd Rainey; a daughter-in-law: Mary Sue Rainey; nephew: Thomas Rainey, wife Ashleigh; niece: Beth Hallee, husband Dan; grandchildren: Gideon Rainey, Felicity Rainey, Lillian Hallee, and Brian Hallee; a brother-in-law: Richard Marlin; and sister-in-law: Mary Rich.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Grace (McPherson) Rich; one son: David Rainey; sister Viona Marlin; and brother: Don Rich.
A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 26th, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Grace United Methodist Church Sanctuary in Salem, with Pastor Carol Lakota Eastin officiating.
