2024 09/26 – Kathleen ‘Kathy’ M. Bruno

Kathleen “Kathy” M. Bruno, age 58, of Keyesport, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2024, at Holy Family Hospital in Greenville, Illinois.

She was Born on July 31, 1966, in Bartelso, the daughter of Stanley and Cleta (Bruggeman) Detmer. On January 4, 2019, she married the love of her life, Joseph Bruno and he survives in Keyepsort.

Kathleen’s outgoing personality, immense love for others, and readiness to help anyone in need created a lasting impact on all who knew her, she was known for her big heart and unwavering kindness. She possessed a variety of interests that illustrated her vibrant spirit, including quilting, gardening, and an enduring passion for jeeping. A devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, she celebrated both victories and defeats with equal enthusiasm, sharing this joy with friends and family. Her family was most important to her, she loved spending time with all of them and treated all of her nieces and nephews as her own children.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph “Joe” Bruno, who cherished their life together and will forever hold her memory close to his heart. She is also survived by her siblings: Larry Detmer and wife Candy of Damiansville, Gary Detmer and wife Debbie of Breese, Bob Detmer of Bartelso, and Carol Koehler and husband Jeff of Beckemeyer

Kathy was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Visitation services will be held on September 25, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Nordike Funeral Home, located at 740 Fairfax Street in Carlyle, and again on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at St. Cecilia’s Church in Bartelso, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, leading into a Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM.

Kathleen Mary Bruno will be remembered not only for her many interests and passions but also for her ultimate gift to those around her: a heart that was truly big, always loving, and endlessly giving.

Memorials may be made in memory of Kathy to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home or Church.
