2024 09/25 – Norman C. Miller

Norman C. Miller, 87, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:59 pm September 20, 2024, at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. He was born August 27, 1937, in Worcester, Massachusetts to the late Lyman and Marion (Bassan) Miller. Norman married Janet (Keaton) Miller on August 2, 1980, in Saint Louis, Missouri.

In addition to his beloved wife of forty-four years, Norman is survived by his son, Andrew Miller and wife, Sonya of Pensacola, Florida; daughter, Julie Way and husband, Kenneth of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands; grandson, Matthew Huston and wife, Shebli of Castle Rock, Colorado; six great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Miller of Maine; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his daughter, Natalie Miller; granddaughter, Megan Huston; sister, Pauline Patterson; and sister-in-law, Ruth Miller.

Mr. Miller proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He served for twenty-one years before retiring. After retiring, Norman was a faculty member at Kaskaskia College and retired from there. Norman was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church. He enjoyed tending to his garden and loved his cats and dogs. Norman was an avid sports fan especially, the Saint Louis Cardinals.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Reverend Gary Davenport officiating. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 11:30 am at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in Saint Louis, Missouri. Full Military Rites will be held at the cemetery. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Norman’s honor to Park Avenue Baptist Church, Deaconess Hospice of Evansville, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
