The Salem Planning Commission has given the final approval needed for a new subdivision at the location of the old bus garage at Lake and Marion Streets adjacent to the fairgrounds.
The commission has approved changing the zoning from industrial to multiple-family residential as well as approving a minor subdivision.
Developer Micah Mulvaney told the planning commission he plans over time to construct two spec homes, three townhouses, and one duplex on the 2.8-acre parcel of land.
The land is outside the city limits, but still within the city’s one-and-a-half-mile zoning jurisdiction. The Salem City Council will be asked to approve the changes on Monday.
The Marion County Board earlier approved the subdivision plat.
The new development will be known as Course View. It is across Marion Street from the Salem Country Club.
