The Salem City Council has approved a new social media policy.
City Manager Rex Barbee says while in the past the city archived its social media pages at the end of the day, that will be stepped up to try and catch any items that may be erased during the day by the poster.
At the suggestion of Mayor Pro Tem Nic Farley, the council also added a provision that will require each city account to have two administrators in case something happens to the main person who handles the account. Any new social media account will have to be approved by the city’s administration.
The council also gave first reading approval to a revised ordinance to cover food trucks. The council was told the provisions are mostly the same, but will be better organized.
Barbee reported work was nearly complete on installation of the new heating system at city hall.
