Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps is warning the public about a scam that utilizes the sheriff’s department phone number.
He has learned of incidents where a phone scammer calls utilizing the sheriff’s department’s number and telling the person who answers that they had been summoned for jury duty and failed to appear. As a result, there is now a warrant out for their arrest.
Cripps says this is a scam. You should hang up and then call the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 618-548-2141 and inquire if you ever suspect a scam.
