The Salem Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry received another boost over the weekend when the Salem Boy Scouts held a drive-up donation of food items. Boy Scout Troop Master Levi Ward was pleased with the result.

“They went really well, collected right around 1300 items plus cash donations.  It went really smooth and we appreciate everyone coming out, helping and donating.”

Ward says the cash donations totaled about $200. In addition, other food items were donated earlier in drop off boxes at Salem IGA and Dollar General.

Ward reports the Scouts are trying to stay active while following COVID-19 guidelines.

“It’s been hard but I’m really proud of the boys for all the work they’ve put in.  They are willing to put on all these events, mutter through it, and just help the community out.”

Ward says the Scouts are still able to meet, but only in small groups.
