A 17-year-old Salem juvenile male was ordered held in detention after leading Salem Police on a lengthy foot chase when escaping while being taken to the Marion County Jail.
He’s wanted on charges of aggravated battery, vehicular invasion and escape.
Salem Police say the series of incidents began on Sunday afternoon when the juvenile allegedly struck a woman through an open car window while the vehicle was parked in Bryan Memorial Park. The juvenile left the area but was later located on Monday night after he was surrounded by police near the Marion County Housing Authority Units in the northeast part of town.
But as he was being taken into the county jail, he allegedly broke free and successfully ran.
Police spotted the juvenile again on Tuesday behind the Salem Farm Fresh Market when he ran again. After briefly disappearing he was located again in Tully Park. The juvenile attempted to run again but was slowed in a wooded area where he was taken into custody.
This time police made it inside the Marion County Jail where the juvenile was held until transferred to the St. Clair County Juvenile Detention facility.
