Salem Police say a rear end collision in the 1500 block of East Main Street Thursday afternoon sent one of the drivers to the hospital for treatment.

Police say a delivery van driven by 26-year-old Dymwr Sereda of Palestine was traveling westbound when he failed to stop for a car that had slowed to make a turn into the Continental Motel.  The driver of that car, 59-year-old Julie Sams of Clay City, was pushed into the west side ditch.   Police say she was not trapped in the vehicle, but needed help to get out.

Sams was taken to Salem Township Hospital by United Medical Response.

Sereda declined hospital treatment.  He was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The crash occurred at 3:02 Thursday afternoon.
