Centralia High School will return to full remote learning on Thursday with a goal of returning to the classroom after Christmas break on January 4th.
Superintendent Chuck Lane says the voluntary decision was made as the number of positive students grew to seven and a large number of others were having to quarantine. Unlike other schools, staffing issues did not enter the decision. Lane reports all staff would have been available beginning on Thursday.
Because the decision is voluntary, students will be allowed into the building to study and work on projects in classes such as automotive and building trades.
Students will be able to ride the busses delivering the food each day back to the school to be returned home by bus later. An average of 20 to 40 students were coming each day to the school during the last full remote period.
First semester exams on December 15th, 16th, and 17th will also be done remotely. Any student with a failing grade for either the first or second quarter must take and pass the final exam to pass the semester. Students with a passing grade for the first and second quarters are exempt from the final exam.
