A 24-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been arrested on multiple charges after allegedly getting into two vehicles stopped in traffic in downtown Centralia.

Centralia Police arrested Tonnie Pauley of South 25th Street for resisting arrest, criminal trespass to a vehicle, unlawful vehicle invasion, and unlawful restraint.

He initially got into a woman’s car at Broadway and Locust after opening an unlocked passenger door.  Pauley allegedly began yelling at the woman to do what he demanded and follow a beer truck in front of them.   At one point, Pauley reported got out of the car and went into the street.   The woman quickly locked the door and prevented Pauley from getting back inside.

Pauley reportedly tried to get into another car unsuccessfully at Broadway and Poplar.     He then entered a pickup truck near Noleman and Elm and the male driver held him until police arrived who were just a short distance away investigating the first incident.

Police say Pauley had been causing issues earlier in the day by being in the street before the three incidents that led to his arrest occurred at 2:04 Tuesday afternoon.
