More details have been released on two crashes on Interstate 64 near the Woodlawn exit on Friday afternoon.

The first crash closed the eastbound lanes from U.S. 51 at Richview to Mt. Vernon for three and a half hours beginning at 12:26 Friday afternoon.  Jefferson Fire officials say the crash apparently occurred when one semi ran under the trailer of another semi slowed in traffic in front of it.  The impact from that crash forced the semi that had been struck into a car slowed for traffic in front of it.   All four in the vehicles declined hospital treatment for apparent minor injuries.   The two trucks were blocking the roadway causing the eastbound lanes to be closed until they were removed.  Jefferson Fire assisted with cleanup of an oil and fuel spill.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the occupant of one of the cars stopped in traffic who was running low on oxygen and were able to replenish the supply.

About an hour into the closure of the eastbound lanes, Jefferson Fire reported a car and a semi collided in the westbound lanes four miles west of Woodlawn.  One minor injury was reported in that crash.
