The 1a/2a softball state finals are today after the Final Four opened yesterday at the Louisville Slugger facility in Peoria.
In 2a, Carterville knocked off the 3 time defending state champion Taylor Rockridge 1-0 in 11-innings to win their state semifinal. The Lions will play at 4:30 this afternoon when they take on Poplar Grove North Boone who beat Auburn 2-0. The 3rd place game begins at 2pm.
In 1a, Trico lost to Illini Bluffs 3-0 and fall to today’s 3rd place game at 9am against Villa Grove after they lost to Woodhull 4-1. The finals will begin at 11:30.
In 3a sectional finals yesterday, Waterloo won their own title shutting out Freeburg 4-0 to advance to the Super Sectionals on Monday. At Charleston, Mt Zion eliminated Chatham Glenwood 4-2.
In 4a sectional finals, Belleville East lost to Minooka at Pekin 11-0.
