The IHSA State Softball Tournament opens today at the Louisville Slugger Park in Peoria. The 2a state semifinals will see the 36-1 Carterville Lady Lions take on the 3x defending state champion Taylor Rockridge who is 32-3-1. First pitch is at 3pm. The 2nd semifinal will see Poplar Grove North Boone who is 28-4 taking on 27-7-1 Auburn.
In 1a softball state semifinals today starting at 10am 25-12-1 Villa Grove takes on 30-5-1 Woodhull followed at 12:30 by Trico who is 27-5 taking on 25-1 Illini Bluffs.
Sectional finals are today in Class 3a. Freeburg and Waterloo will play for the Waterloo title at 4pm, Chatham Glenwood and Mt Zion play from Charleston.
In 4a sectional finals at Pekin, Belleville East takes on Minooka.
