The Salem Summer HS JV baseball season tipped off last night as they JV took over the varsity game that was scheduled with Woodlawn as the Salem varsity team is still playing in the IHSA post season. The young Wildcats fell in the opening game 13-4. Payton Gullion went 2-4 with 2 runs scored, Evan Barnes and Avery Gullion also drove in runs with a single fro Logan Butts. Payton Gullion took the loss giving up 3 earned runs in 3 innings. Evan Barnes and Avery Gullion also threw for Salem.
The Wildcats won the nightcap 7-5. Keytin Grawe had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Avery Gullion singled home a run and scored, Trent Shelton, Nicholi Marhanka and Boldt added RBI and Drake Rector had 2 hits. Grawe and Scout Puricelli pitched in the win. Salem is back in action tomorrow as they travel to Woodlawn for a rematch double header starting at 4:30.
