Jefferson Rural Firemen say fires destroyed a shed and an outbuilding in separate late Friday afternoon fires.
The first call was to a residence on Radisson Road south of Mt. Vernon where a 12 by 16 foot structure caught fire apparently from a lamp in an adjoining chicken coop. The building contained some family photos and mementos that were lost along with the building. The fire call came in at 3:32 Friday afternoon.
In the second fire, a 10 by 8 foot storage shed outside a mobile home at Rolling Meadows Mobile Home Park caught fire. The building was fully engulfed upon the department’s arrival, but they were able to keep it from spreading to a mobile home about ten feet away.
The names of the owners of the two buildings were not immediately available.
