Ameren Illinois has announced with colder temperatures on the way and the recent increase in Coronavirus cases, they are suspending service disconnections for residential customers immediately.

Ameren is urging customers who are experiencing financial challenges due to COVID-19 to take steps to save energy and continue to pay whatever they can afford in order to avoid falling too far behind on their energy bill.

The moratorium on disconnections for all residential customers will continue through March 31st of next year.

Ameren Chairman and President Richard Mark say they continue to stress the need for customers experiencing difficulty paying their bills to call and explore available funding resources and payment arrangements to get back on track. He noted since the pandemic began they have offered temporary relief measures, repayment plans up to two years and more than $9-million in bill payment assistance.

More information on services and programs that are available to help customers impacted by COVID-19 are available at AmerenIllinois.com/Recovery.
