State reports new COVID-19 deaths in Clinton, Effingham, and Wayne Counties

The Illinois Department of Public Health on Saturday reported another 11,028 new cases and 66 new deaths from COVID-19 around the state.

The deaths included three in Clinton County, males in their 60s and 70s, and a female in her 70s.  There was one death reported in Wayne County, a male in his 60s.  Two females in their 90’s have died from COVID related causes in Effingham County.  Other deaths in Southern Illinois occurred in Bond, Franklin, Madison, Randolph, and Williamson Counties.

There was also a record number of tests completed in the 24 hours before the Saturday report with the total surpassing 114,000.

The number hospitalized statewide has increased to 5,415 people.  1,018 are in ICU and 499 on ventilators.

The new statewide seven-day positivity rate is 12.6-percent.   The rate in the Southern Illinois region increased a full percent for the week ending November 11th to 13.8.  The Marion County rate jumped to 13-percent.   The Metro-East rate is up to 15.2-percent.   The East Central Region is up to 13.5-percent.
