The Marion County Health Department has been notified of 52 new positive COVID-19 cases on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says five of the new cases are school age. Contact tracing is underway on four of them. The fifth was not at school during the infectious period. None of the new cases were long term care residents.
Mallow says the breakdown of the new cases include 21 who are community spread and 31 who are household or close contacts to confirmed positive cases.
There are now 323 active cases, including twenty who are in the hospital and four who are on ventilators. There were 26 who recovered over the past two days. That brings the total number that have recovered to 850.
The new cases range in age from two girls under ten, four females in their teens to four males in their 20s up to a male in his 90s. All are on isolation.
The Clinton County Health Department reported 46 new positives on Wednesday. There are 276 on home isolation and four who are currently hospitalized.
The Jefferson County Health Department has 18 new positive cases ranging in age from a female under 13 to a male in his 70s. Jefferson County has 175 active cases currently in isolation.
The Washington County Health Department is reporting nine new confirmed cases from Friday through Monday ranging in age from a male in his upper teens to two males in their 50s. There are currently 39 active cases and one who is hospitalized.
The Fayette County Health Department is reporting 26 new confirmed cases during the past two days. There are now 91 active cases.
The Wayne County Health Department is reporting 11 new positive cases ranging in age from a female in her 20s to a female in her 90s. There are 87 currently in isolation and four who are hospitalized.
Statewide another 7,538 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported on Wednesday along with 55 deaths. The statewide positivity rate has increased to 8.5-percent for the past week. The positivity rate for the Southern Illinois Region is up a tenth of a percent to 10-percent. The Marion County positivity rate has increased to 9.9-percent. The Metro East Region’s positivity rate is 10.1-percent. The East Central Illinois rate is up to 10-percent.
