Short-Handed Lady Cats Track Show Very Well At Mount Vernon Invite On Saturday

After being rained out on Wednesday the Salem Lady Cats track team competed on Saturday at the Mt. Vernon Lady Rams Invitational.

With this being a makeup meet Salem was short handed with only 9 girls on the bus, these girls did not disappoint. Placing third as a team with 55 points, first place Mt. Vernon 91 points and second place  Centralia with 88 points and Salem didn’t compete in 6 different events on the track.

Emily Runyon won the pole vault clearing 8 ft, Aila Laird first in the 800, Kinsey Jarrett took first in the long jump, third in the 200 and 4th in the triple jump. Hannah Smith was first in the discus, second in the shot. Ella Smith was third in the shot and 6th in the discus. Finley Puricelli won the 400 meter was 4th in the 100 and cleared 5ft taking second in the high jump. Eden Gallia was 4th in the 200 and 400. Ella Robinson ran a strong 1600 meter taking third place.

The Lady Cats take the track again Tuesday at the Mattoon Invite.
