The Salem Wildcat baseball team is in action today at Freeburg in a makeup Conference game. The JV Cats will host Freeburg.
Salem varsity enters at 6-7 overall and 0-2 in the league after falling at Breese Central yesterday 4-1. The Cats could only muster 2 hits on the day, a Jalen Inlow single and Josh Powless hit. Inlow scored the lone run on a Noah Nix sacrifice fly. Gavin Zimmermann took the loss going 5 innings and scattering 8 hits allowing 3 earned runs with 3 strikeouts. Inlow got the final 3 outs.
Christ Our Rock is 4-5 after their 3-1 loss to Marquette. Parker Boehne threw well in the loss going all 7 innings allowing just 3 first inning runs and scattering 4 hits. At the plate, Damari Dabney doubled, Brayden Albert had the only other hit.
In yesterday’s baseball action Carlyle lost to Chester 4-0, Flora fell to Edwards County 12-1, Marion shutout Mount Vernon 6-0, Roxana 5-3 over Freeburg and Wesclin beat Sparta 7-1.
The SC Cougars are at home at Lions Field in Kinmundy taking on Carlyle.
