Wildcats See 3 game Win Streak Snapped, Back At It Today In Breese
The Salem Varsity Wildcats are in action today as they open Cahokia Conference play with a road game at Breese Central. Salem is 3-5 on the season after a home loss to St Anthony yesterday 11-1 in five innings. St Anthony jumped on top early scoring 2 runs in the opening inning and with a 5-1 lead in the top of the fifth, the Bulldogs exploded for 6 runs to put the game away capitalizing on 4 Salem errors. The Cats were held to 3 hits, singles from Noah Nix, Gavin Zimmermann and Josh Powless. Ayden Rose took the loss going 4.1 allowing 5 hits and 6 earned. Jalen Inlow got the final 2 outs for Salem.
Gullion Solid In Return Start, Salem JV Falls To St Anthony
The Salem JV will be at home against Central playing at the High School at 4:30. The JV enters at 4-4 after falling to St Anthony 9-4 yesterday. Salem only trailed 1-0 through four innings as they got a good start from Payton Gullion who worked his way out of a bases loaded, nobody out jam in the first inning without giving up a run, the freshman left hander coming back from injury worked 4 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 run with 3 strikeouts and picked off 2. He also singled and reached base 3 times at the plate. St Anthony scored 4 times in the fifth and added 2 runs in each of the final two innings. Keytin Grawe and Rostance came in to pitch the final 3 innings. Colton Rogers and Hudson Gambill added RBI, Gambill’s on a triple. Aden Rostance added 2 hits and a run, Eli Lograsso had a hit and run, Carter Lowe scored a run.
SC Falls To Altamont, Head To Mulberry Grove Today
The SC Cougars are at Mulberry Grove today trying to snap a 3-game losing skid that see’s their record at 3-3 on the season. The Cougars fell to Altamont on the road last night 8-3. Chase Guerrettaz worked 3 innings for SC, taking the loss allowing 4 hits and 3 earned runs. Evan Hoover and Kaiden Harrell also worked some innings for SC. At the plate, Zane Montes had a double and drove in 2, Brody Markley singled home a run.
