The Franklin Park Lady Bobcats volleyball season ended with a record of 23-1 as they fell in their Class L state opener at Pinckneyville High School losing to Massac County 17-25, 25-27. Massac County ended up falling in the championship to Belleville Central 25-22, 25-21. Wesclin took 3rd place beating Hamilton County 25-22, 25-22.
The Iuka Lady Pirates took 3rd place in Class S at Herrin as they opened with a 25-21, 23-25, 15-11 win over Ewing/Northern. Iuka then overcame a 7-25 loss in the first set to Summersville to bounce back and win 25-11, 15-11 to get to the state semifinals. There they would lose to Pinckneyville 21-25, 17-25 to fall to the 3rd place game where they would finish their season off with a win over St John’s Lutheran Red Bud 25-14, 25-14.
Germantown beat Pinckneyville for the Class S state title. Other area schools lost in the opening round as Field fell to Shawnee, New Horizon lost to St Johns Lutheran and TSJ Nashville fell to Summersville.
In Class M at West Frankfort, Breese All Saints beat Smithton for the state title in straight sets. NCOE beat Goreville in the 3rd place match.
