SSM Health has started a survey of health needs in the Marion and Jefferson County region. The Community Health Needs Assessment is taken every three years. St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia and Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon say the five minute survey can be taken on line.
The Community Health Manager for the Southern Illinois Region of SSM Health Julie Robertson-Brooks says the tool is used to help identify and address the health needs and priorities in the area. It is the first step to engaging the community on strengths and what areas are in need of improvement.
The 2021 survey showed three primary areas of need. Mental health, substance abuse, and nutrition/weight/exercise.
The survey will be available for eight weeks.
