The city of Centralia fire department has sworn in a new part-time firefighter.
Brian Martinez had been a part-time firefighter form 2017 to 2022 during his first stint, but had stepped down due to other commitments that have now been cleared. Martinez initially became a part-time officer after moving to Centralia with his wife from Los Angeles where he had been an LA firefighter for 14 years.
Centralia City Clerk Kim Enke swore Martinez into the position during a ceremony at Centralia City Hall on Friday.
Centralia Fire Chief Jeff Day says they now have five part-time firefighters to supplement the fulltime staff.
