A 39-year-old Chicago woman has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery of a Marion County correctional officer at the county jail in October of 2020.  As part of the plea, Stephanie Chaney Black had a count of aggravated battery dropped as a result of the same incident.  A separate DUI charge was also dropped.  Black was placed on one-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay a $270 public defender fee.

A 38-year-old Centralia man has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor domestic battery charge.  Andre Harris of Melrose Street had a felony aggravated domestic battery charge dropped as part of the plea.  He admitted to pushing a family member into a wall.   The felony count claimed as part of the same incident he had strangled the alleged victim with his hands.  Harris was placed on one-year probation, ordered to undergo drug, alcohol, and mental health evaluation, complete the men’s challenging violence program, and ordered to pay a probation fee and public defender fee.
