It is Elite 8 Super Sectional night in Illinois prep boys basketball. The Christ Our Rock Stallions look for their first ever trip to the Final Four as they play at 7pm tonight at Eastern Illinois University against Mounds Meridian. The winner advances to Thursday’s state semifinals at the State Farm Center in Champaign.
Also in 1a tonight, Aurora Christian plays Pecatonica at Northern Illinois University, Winchester and Illini Bluffs at Jacksonville and at ISU it’s Chicago Hope taking on Heyworth.
In 2a, the Benton Rangers look for a trip to State when they travel to SIU-Carbondale to take on Teutopolis at 7pm. The Shoes are in their 4th Super Sectional in the last 5 years. Game time at 7pm.
Also in 2a, Chicago Phillips plays Beecher at Joliet Central, Williamsville and Macomb play in Springfield at 6pm and Chicago Latin takes on Byron at Sterling.
The Centralia Orphans will play their 3a Super Sectional in Springfield following Macomb/Williamsville game with scheduled tip at 7:30. The 32-2 Orphans take on the 33-1 Mt Zion Braves for a trip to state. Centralia is coming off winning the Triad Sectional while the Braves won the title at Lincoln.
Also in 3a, Chicago Mt Carmel plays St Patrick at the University of Illinois-Chicago, DePaul College Prep takes on Crystal Lake South at Hoffman Estates, Harvey Thornton takes on Peoria Richwoods at Ottawa.
In 4a, Homewood Flossmor plays Curie at UIC, Palatine and Gurnee at NIU, Glenbard North plays New Trier at Hoffman Estates and at ISU it’s Downers Grove North and Normal Community.
