Youth Wrestling & Frosh Sectionals Held Over The Weekend With Salem & Centralia Athletes Advancing To State

IWCOA Championship Series held wrestling sectionals Saturday and will host the State tournament next week in Springfield. Adri and Anna Dodson both qualify to participate in Springfield.  Adri Dodson was fast on her feet, took early leads and was 3-1 on the day for 3rd place over all.  Anna Dodson was pushed from her regular weight class of 170lbs up to 190lbs moments before competition. She swept the bracket taking 1st place with 3 pins.

Four 8th graders from Centralia Wrestled at the Highland Sectional.  Lucas Ashlock and Jacob Ben Avi both came up just short of state.

Salem had 13 qualifiers this weekend competing at Sectionals.  Sawyer Duncan, Izayah Ramirez, Damian Ramirez, Ethan Petrillo, Jonah Findley, Henry Thoms, Cambden Branon, Mason McArthur, Kayne Rhynes, Myles Donoho, Willie Vincent, Gerryn Tabor and Kade Orrell.  6 qualified for State.  Thoms took 1st place as Sectional champion.  Orrell, Vincent and Findley advanced taking 2nds.  Myles Donoho lost his first match and won 4 striaght to wrestle back to 3rd place and qualify.  Branon also qualified as a Wild Card.

Centralia will be represented by Sydney Pate, an 8th grader at 102 pounds for women’s wrestling this week in the IKWF State Tournament.  Ronald Little in the 7th grade Novice 60 pound division also advanced.  Ronald is Centralia’s first qualifier to qualify without a wildcard outright since 2011.  He is also the first Rookie to ever do this.  This week both will battle and try to get State medals to bring back to Centralia.
