A 41-year-old Salem man was struck by a pickup truck when entering the lanes of traffic on West Main Street near Pennington Chevy early Thursday night.
Salem Police say Jason Kelly of Airport Road said he had been walking on the shoulder of the highway when he began to cross the road and was hit. Police report Kelly was struck by a westbound pickup truck driven by 41-year-old Randall Mulvany of South Maple Street in Salem.
Kelly was first transported by United Medical Response to Salem Township Hospital. He was then transferred by medical helicopter to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred at 6:10 Thursday evening.
