A 65-year-old Davenport, Florida man has died in a head-on crash near Dieterich in Southern Effingham County.
State Police say preliminary investigative details indicate a pickup driven by Michael Schulz of Davenport, Florida crossed the centerline of Effingham County Road N 2300 and struck an oncoming northbound truck driven by 62-year-old Prather Weidner of Effingham.
Schulz was pronounced dead on the scene by the Effingham County Coroner. Weidner was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate.
The crash occurred at 1:54 Thursday afternoon.
