Sandra ‘Lynette’ Moss, 78 of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Salem, passed away Friday, December 15th, 2023 at SSM Health DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri surrounded by family.
She was born October 5th, 1945 in Good Hope, Alabama, the daughter of William T. Self and Verla. L. (Key) Self. From a young age, Lynne was an accomplished singer, following in the footsteps of her older sisters, the Dixie Songbirds. She married Raymond Junior Moss in November 1966 and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1992. Their union was blessed with 6 children. Lynette was a devoted homemaker and loved surrounding herself with family and friends. A talented seamstress she enjoyed making costumes for local church and school productions. She continued to develop her musical talents and wrote music. She enjoyed traveling and visiting family. Lynette is survived by her children: Deirdre Franklin and husband Brian of Mt. Vernon, Matthew “Scott†Moss and wife Gabby of Blue Springs, Alabama, Jason T. Moss of Dahlgren, Nathan E. Moss and wife Rachel of Texas, and Heather D. Nielson and husband Eric of Susanville, California; three step-children: Sharon Traylor of Texas, Dean Moss of Texas, and Elizabeth Davila of Texas; Grandchildren: Danielle Davis (Francois), Zachary Francois, Ricky Francois, Virginia Cunningham (Franklin), Anthony (Franklin), Noah Franklin, Willow Moss, Amaris Moss, Grant Moss, Jonathan Moss, Meranda Devor, Abigael Downing (Devor), Rikki Reynold, Faith Jiminez (Reynolds), Owen Nielson, Adelaide Nielson, Winston Nielson, Liam Nielson, Jonathan Trevino, Randy Moss, Michael Traylor, Amy Traylor, Sarah Porter (Moss), Troy Moss, Travis Moss. Innumerable great grandchildren; Two sisters: Janice Miller of Clayton, Alabama, and Daryl Spivey of Florida and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Willam and Verla Self, husband: Raymond Moss, daughter: Deanna R. Moss, two grandsons: Sean Francois and Morgan Moss, a great-grandson: Grayson Devor, step-grandson Richard Trevino, three sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 19th, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home in Salem.
