A 33-year-old Salem woman has been transported to a St. Louis hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in a pickup truck-bicycle collision on the east side of Centralia early Saturday night.
Centralia Police say Sarah Niebert of North Broadway was reportedly on the shoulder of the road as the pickup driven by 19-year-old Patrick Ratts of South Broadway in Salem approached in westbound traffic. Ratts reported Niebert turned in front of him and despite swerving he still struck her.
Niebert was initially taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital via Lifestar Ambulance before being flown to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.
Ratts was not injured.
The crash occurred at 6:04 Saturday night.
