Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse has identified the three men killed in a fiery two-vehicle head-on crash late Saturday night on East Dubois Road.
Hayse says the car that crossed the centerline was driven by 20-year-old Bryce Middleton of DuBois. He was killed along with a passenger in his car, 20-year-old Hayden Lence of Herrin. They were trapped in their vehicle that caught fire after impact.
The driver of the vehicle that was struck, 37-year-old Joshua Chapman of Collinsville, was also killed. A passenger in his car, a 32-year-old man from Crystal Lake, was airlifted from the scene by medical helicopter to a St. Louis Hospital. His identity has not been released.
The coroner reports an autopsy was being completed Monday night on all three men to determine the cause of death.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department is handling the wreck with assistance from an Illinois State Police accident reconstructionist.
