It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Martina Elizabeth Watson, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease, on November 28, 2023, at the age of 87.
Martina, a native of Salem, IL, concluded her life’s journey at Adams Place in Murfreesboro, TN. She retired from General Telephone, leaving behind a legacy of dedication.Martina was born to Antone Peter Paus and Nora Theresa O’Brien Paus. She joins her husband, Paul Raymond Watson, Jr., and sisters, Marie Strong and Monica Sidner, in eternal rest.Martina’s memory lives on through her son, Pete (Monica) Watson, and cherished grandchildren, Tyler (Kellie) Watson and Natalie (Kyle) Whittaker. The laughter and joy she brought will continue through her great-grandchildren; Scarlett, Liliana, Guinevere, and Carter.She is also remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews. Preceding her were: Tina Marie Sidener, Michael Strong, and Don Cline. Surviving her are: Theresa (Michael) Purcell, Monica Ann (Doug) Schaubert, Mary Bowerman, Patty Jo (David) Pickel, and Jane Cline, Mike (Orasa) Watson, Tommy (Sherry) Watson, and dear friend Henry Purcell.Martina’s spirit and warmth will forever be cherished. As we bid farewell, let us celebrate a life well-lived, and may her soul find eternal peace.Per Martina’s wishes, cremation rites were accorded and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Theresa of Avila Church in Salem with Father Rev. Jose Jacob officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Salem. In Honor of Martina, memorial donations may be made to St. Theresa of Avila Church and/or Michael J.
