2023 10/14 – Robert ‘Bob’ G. Squibb, Jr.

Robert ‘Bob’ G. Squibb, Jr., 79, of Salem, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, surrounded by his family.Bob was born September 16, 1944, in Salem, the son of Robert G. Squibb, Sr., and Lillian (Jackson) Squibb. He married Margaret Sledge on September 16, 1999, and she survives.In addition to his wife of 24 years, Margaret Squibb of Salem, he is also survived by his eight children: Kimberly Jezik of Tampa, Florida, Angie Diss of Kinmundy, Jeff Squibb of Alma, Greg Squibb and wife Crystal of Kinmundy, Stephanie Wierschem and husband Todd of Kuna, Idaho, Blaine Anderson and wife Patricia of Iuka, Darin Anderson of Louisiana, and Teresa Appleton and husband Dave of Nampa, Idaho; twenty-two grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brother: Jeffrey Squibb and wife Janet of Perryville, Missouri; sister: Diane Chinn and husband Rusty of Billings, Montana; several nieces and nephews; and a special family friend: Patty Hinton of Centralia.He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert Squibb, Sr. and Lillian Squibb, grandparents, and a great-grandson: Boston Comeaux.Bob was a carpenter for several years and then served as a Police Officer. He first started his career with the Sandoval Police Department. He also worked for the Salem Reserve, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Kinmundy, Alma/Kinmundy, and Patoka/ Vernon Police Department.Bob was a member of Harvey’s Point Christian Church in Kell. He had a passion for archery, deer hunting, and woodworking. Bob was a family man. He cherished the times he was able to spend with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Even playing Chinese Checkers, Chess and any other type of board game with his grandchildren will always remain one of his many family treasures.A Visitation will be held Friday, October 13, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Bratton officiating. A burial will follow at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salem Library and/or the Thomason Cemetery Care Fund and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home at 310 North Broadway/ P.O.
