A 17-year-old Salem juvenile boy was injured after crashing into a power pole late Thursday afternoon on South Hotze Road near Andrews Court.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say the juvenile told them he looked down to take a drink and when he looked up the power pole was in front of him. The crash sheared off the power pole and the live power lines fell across his SUV.
The juvenile had exited the vehicle fortunately without making contact with the power line and was walking around the accident scene when emergency help arrived. He was taken by United Medical Response to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of apparent non-life-threatening injuries.
The Salem Fire Department was called to assist and Marion County ESDA provided traffic control until the road could be reopened around ten Thursday night. The crash occurred at 3:53 p.m.
