2023 09/28 – Charlene Wilma Black

Charlene Wilma Black, 82, of Centralia passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Carlyle Healthcare and Senior Living in Carlyle.

She was born on March 26, 1941, the daughter of Woodrow and Clora (Kirgan) Holland in Centralia. She married Donald Black on May 2, 1959, and 3 children were born to this union. They later divorced.

Survivors include her children, Patrick (Joanna) Black, Barney (Rowena) Black, and Vitina Griffin; 6 grandchildren, Russell Black, Genell Roder, Candice Black, Kyle Steinmann, Trevor Steinmann, and Chase Steinmann; 3 great-grandchildren with one on the way; brothers, Larry (Donna) Holland, and Richard Holland; half-siblings, Hershel (Betty) Hicks, and Lola LaVerne Arnold; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; and half-siblings, Verlin Hicks, Margaret Hicks, and Delbert Hicks.

Charlene was a wonderful, nurturing mother, whose whole heart was devoted to providing for her children. Raising her family in California until their high school years, she instilled the importance of strong family ties in all her children. She was employed at Hollywood Candy Factory and Walgreens Distribution Center. Charlene will be deeply missed by her friends and family who will carry on all the life lessons she shared with each of them.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2023, at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem with Joannie Naraghi officiating. Memorials may be made in Charlene’s honor to the Family’s Wishes and will be accepted for the family at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia.
