2023 09/17 – Thomas Otto Lowrey

Thomas Otto Lowrey, age 87 of Salem, formerly of Swartz Creek MI, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at Salem Township Hospital.

Tom was born on October 5, 1935, in Longview, TX the son of Olin Otto and Margaret Joyce (Dodson) Lowrey.  He married Marlene Anne (Sefernick) Lowrey on September 17, 1966, at All Saints Catholic Church in Flint, MI and they enjoyed 41 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on November 3, 2007.

He is survived by a niece, Margaret Frazier and husband Larry of Salem, nephews, Olin Buddy Easley of McLeansboro, IL, and Steve Lowrey or Texas, niece, Joyce Creed of Creed, Oregon; several great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins, Guy Czerwinski and wife Jackie, Tony Czerwinski and wife Julie; and Jimmy Sefernick and wife Kelly all of Michigan; next door neighbors in Swartz Creek, MI, Laura and Chuck; and a close friend, Dixie Garcia of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings, Joe Lowrey, Lois Bowers, Thelma Morris, and Helen Thackery.

Tom was of the Catholic Faith.  He worked in sales until his retirement.  Hunting, fishing, and life on the lake were his passions with friends and family.  He enjoyed family life and was cherished by everyone.  He always said he “had a blessed life, great parents, childhood, wife, career and retirement.”

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in McLeansboro, with Military Rites accorded at the grave.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church.  Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
