Marion County Circuit Clerk Tiffany Schicker has announced the receipt of an $8,800 grant from the Illinois court system.
She says the grant will make improvements to the third-floor check-in system for those going to court.
“This is going to be more of a wrap-around style reception desk. But it will also serve as a kind of information center as well. We are going to pass out some legal self-help information on the third floor. I’ve been working on the forms with some local attorneys for people representing themselves in court. The grant will also include some signage for the third floor.”
Schicker says the desk is on back order so it is not clear when the improvements will be made.
She also announced Marion County will be sharing a Justice Fellow with six other counties in the 4th Judicial Circuit that will work with her staff to train them on how to assist those utilizing the court system without the help of an attorney.
