Ameren Illinois restored the final electricity Tuesday morning that was still out following Saturday evening’s fierce winds and severe thunderstorms.
Only eight customers remained out in Centralia earlier this morning, that have now been put back on line. After the storm passed through, 6,800 were without power in the Centralia, Junction City, Sandoval, and Odin areas of Marion County. A large number of outside contractors were brought in to complete the restoration work on Monday. Ameren Illinois reports a total of 16 poles were broken that had to be replaced in addition to putting power lines back up.
Tri-County Electric reported 4,500 without power in Marion County on their system following the Saturday night storms. Manager Luke Johnson says at one point eight substations were out as a result of Ameren Illinois losing their main transmission line north of Sandoval. Most customers came back on when Ameren rerouted electric service. In addition, there were 11 broken poles that needed to be replaced main south of Salem to the Walnut Hill area. Johnson reports by Sunday morning all but 150 customers were back on and power restoration was completed by three Sunday afternoon.
