The 11u State Little League Baseball Tournament opened up Saturday at the Salem Little League Complex. Elmhurst opened with a 7-3 win over Champaign East, Mt Carmel beat Rochelle 7-3, Western Spring shutout Tri-Cities 4-0 and Hinsdale over Streator 12-1.
Then on Sunday in the winners bracket Elmhurst advanced over Mt Carmel 15-1 and Hinsdale shutout Western Springs 4-0 to set up a game for a trip to the championship today at 5:45 on the North Field.
Sunday in the elimination bracket, Champaign East beat Rochelle 15-1 and then fell to Western Springs 10-6. Streator eliminated Tri-Cities 4-3 and then beat Mt Carmel 8-5 to move into today’s elimination game as Western Springs and Streator will play at 5:45 on the South Field.
