The Colt World Series opened up in Marion yesterday. In the opening game, Tijuana, Mexico beat Chiba, Japan 6-0, Rio Grande Valley, Texas beat Greensboro, North Carolina 10-2, Youngstown, Ohio routed Aroma Park, Illinois 18-3 and Southern Illinois held off Paderborn, Germany 8-7.
The day today begins at 9am with an elimination game between Germany and North Carolina followed by Aroma Park and Japan at noon. At 3pm, Texas takes on Santa Monica, California with the winner getting Southern Illinois and then the final game of the day today will see Marion open up at 8pm against Mexico with Salem junior Noah Nix getting the start for Marion. The winner advances to play Ohio tomorrow at 8pm, the loser will play at 2pm tomorrow against either Aroma Park or Japan.
