The Aviston Express dropped to the elimination bracket after losing their first game at the American Legion Baseball State Tournament in Galesburg, losing to Wheaton 1-0. Chase Lewis had the lone Aviston hit. Jacob Hustedde struck out 6 and allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits.
The Express will play at noon today against Galesburg after they lost to Barrington 9-8. The winner advances to play at 9am tomorrow morning in another elimination game.
In the other first round game yesterday, Danville overcame a 6-2 deficit to walk it off in the bottom of the 7th 7-6.
