Jobs were up and the unemployment rate was down last month in Illinois.

State Department of Employment Security Acting Director Ray Marchiori says there were some positive signs in the latest job numbers.

“This is the sixth consecutive month with gains in new jobs.  The unemployment rate has fallen to 4 percent, the lowest it has been since the pandemic began in February 2020 and we have exceeded prepandemic private sector job levels.”

Industry sectors with the largest job gains from May to June are educational and health services, construction leisure and hospitality, and government.
